Waves of Emotion
As you walk, find a small object—a stone, a twig, or a leaf—and gently pick it up. Let this object represent the wave of emotion you’re carrying today. Hold it in one hand and notice how your body adjusts to keep it steady. Feel your arm and hand shift, your posture adapting to balance the object as you continue walking.
Now, move the object to your other hand, noticing how your body shifts again to find balance. Silently repeat: “I can balance this wave.” Let this practice remind you that grief, like the object, can feel heavy or unsteady at times, but you have the strength to carry and adjust to it.
When you’re ready, find a place to set the object down. Take a deep breath in… and as you exhale, release the weight of the wave for now.
