MEETING YOURSELF HERE -
BEGINNING WHERE YOU ARE
Today we practice the art of honest self-reflection, of truly seeing ourselves in this moment of our grief journey. Like waking up in an unfamiliar room, grief can disorient us, making it difficult to recognize where we are or even who we've become in the wake of loss.
Sometimes we avoid looking too closely at our current state, fearing what we might find. Yet there's profound power in simply acknowledging where we are right now - not where we think we should be, not where others expect us to be, but exactly where we are. This is our starting point, our honest ground zero.
Like taking a photograph, we can capture this moment with clarity and compassion. Perhaps today finds us feeling fragile, barely able to face the world. Maybe we're angry, or numb, or surprised by unexpected moments of peace. Whatever we discover as we take this inventory of our heart deserves to be acknowledged without judgment.
Our grief changes us, reshapes us, creates new contours in our emotional landscape. The person we were before our loss is different from who we are now, and different still from who we're becoming. Meeting ourselves here means accepting all of these versions of ourselves - the strong and the struggling, the healing and the hurting.
Today, take a gentle inventory of where you are. Notice what you can handle and what feels too much. Pay attention to what brings comfort and what depletes you. This honest assessment isn't about fixing or changing anything - it's about understanding your current needs and limitations.
In this moment, know that wherever you find yourself is exactly where you need to be. This is your starting point, and it's perfect in its imperfection. Meeting yourself here, with open eyes and a tender heart, is the beginning of authentic healing.
